Hello Sandown community! The cherry blossoms have spoken; spring is here! Sandown farmers are busy prepping their fields, tending to their seedlings and getting ready for market season! We have a number of events and opportunities to share with you as well as exciting staff updates!

Annual Sandown PLant Sale!

Our annual Plant Sale is happening this Sunday, May 3rd, from 10am - 1pm. Meet our farmers, explore the grounds and choose from a wide variety of spring starts for your garden!

This year, we are offering our own Sandown CSA from our Sandown Learning Farm and Sandown farmers. This is a great way to support our non-profit! Also check out the Sandown farmers CSA options at the links below.

Welcome Zoe (Program Manager) and Liam (Farm Manager) to the Sandown Team!

Hailing from Tkaronto, Zoe brings significant experience in ecological farming, food systems research, and place-based education, working across non-profit, academic, and community settings. Zoe completed a Master’s of Environmental Studies in 2023, while co-developing the Kingston Community Training Farm. In 2024, she moved out West to manage Three Oaks Farm and join a vibrant ecological farming community on the Saanich peninsula! She leads the delivery of our youth and adult programming, including the Growing Young Farmers Program, the Regenerative Gardening Course, and workshops, tours, and events.

Liam is originally from Calgary, located within Treaty 7 territory. He is passionate about local food systems and market farming, and is driven by the opportunity to work with the land to grow nourishing food for his community. Alongside farming, Liam is actively involved in grassroots cycling initiatives and community events, and serves as a board member and secretary with Capital Bike. He spends his free time biking, playing disc golf, and cooking, often drawing inspiration from the food he helps produce. Liam values the organizations and communities he works with and volunteers for, having seen firsthand the impact of collective effort and community care. Liam leads the Sandown Learning Farm in crop planning, harvest, and delivery to our community partners.

The Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture is located on the traditional, unceded lands of the SENĆOŦEN speaking W̱S͸ḴEM (Tseycum) and BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin) peoples of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. We acknowledge their deep, ongoing relationship with the land and waters since time immemorial.

Regenerative agriculture is deeply informed by the wisdom and practices of Indigenous food systems, which have fostered ecological balance and abundance. We recognize that agriculture has been both a tool of both oppression and a potential pathway toward justice and reconciliation.

We commit to meaningful action by stewarding ecosystems, honouring Indigenous knowledge, supporting food sovereignty, and fostering relationships built on respect, reciprocity, and learning. Regenerative agriculture must include the regeneration of right relationships—with the land, its original stewards, and one another.
