There's much to celebrate and much to look forward to at the Sandown Centre this month. June marks the end of our school field-trip season and the beginning of our summer programming, including our Sandown CSA, Farmers Market and Farmer-led !orkshop series!

Thank you to all of the students and teachers who visited us this season!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to host school groups at the Sandown Learning Farm! As part of our Growing Young Farmers Program, we offer field trips for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students to gain hands-on food literacy education on our 1-acre learning farm and outdoor classroom. Depending on the age of the students and the season, students will learn about the plant life cycle, the role of beneficial insects, and soil health, through activities like planting, harvesting, and tasting vegetables!

This season we welcomed many classes from both SD 61 and SD 63.

We are proud to offer transportation for the field trip thanks to the support of the Victoria Foundation! We partner with the Community Action Bus (CAB), a non-profit organization that provides bus transportation run on veggie oil!

To book a field trip for the fall, fill out our intake form here or email Zoe at engagment@sandowncentre.ca

Very excited to share our first-ever Sandown CSA box with produce from our Learning Farm, radishes and lettuce from Headwind Farm and turnips from The Plot Market Garden! Interested in joining our CSA for the remainder of the season?

The Sandown farmers market is back!

Starting on Wednesday June 10th, join us weekly from 3:30 - 5:30 to support the 10 Sandown farmers and our non-profit in a co-op style market.

What does that look like? There will be one consolidated table of items from all producers with one point of sale! Produce will change weekly depending on which farmers are participating and what they have available. You can learn about our programs or take a stroll through the gardens! We Look forward to seeing you there!

We love our volunteers!

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped us get beds prepped and veggies in the ground throughout the busy month of May! A special thanks to our volunteers from the Garth Homer Society who come to lend a hand every Friday morning!

The Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture is located on the traditional, unceded lands of the SENĆOŦEN speaking W̱S͸ḴEM (Tseycum) and BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin) peoples of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. We acknowledge their deep, ongoing relationship with the land and waters since time immemorial.

Regenerative agriculture is deeply informed by the wisdom and practices of Indigenous food systems, which have fostered ecological balance and abundance. We recognize that agriculture has been both a tool of both oppression and a potential pathway toward justice and reconciliation.

We commit to meaningful action by stewarding ecosystems, honouring Indigenous knowledge, supporting food sovereignty, and fostering relationships built on respect, reciprocity, and learning. Regenerative agriculture must include the regeneration of right relationships—with the land, its original stewards, and one another.
