It's easy to get swept up in the busy pace of the summer harvest! As the growing season continues in full swing at Sandown, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of this summer's highlights and thank our wonderful community for your ongoing support and involvement.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Canada Day Potato Harvest Work Bee. We loved welcoming so many community members to the farm to learn, connect, and get their hands in the soil. Together, we harvested more than 300 pounds of potatoes during the work bee—a fantastic community effort!
Thank you to Sandown grower Stacey MacTaggart for hosting an informative and engaging Medicinal Herb-Growing Workshop, and to all those who attended. Participants asked lots of thoughtful questions and got to taste and learn all about medicinal herb processing and growing!

Exciting new After-school youth programming!

This fall, we're launching an after-school youth program. Over four weekly sessions, youth will explore a working farm and outdoor classroom while gaining hands-on experience with sustainable food systems and food literacy. Participants will harvest and taste vegetables fresh from the garden, discover insect and plant life cycles, explore the importance of healthy soil, and learn where food comes from through engaging outdoor activities.
This immersive program encourages curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a deeper connection to local food and nature through real-world, hands-on learning.
